SUPERSPACE is the new gallery space in Belgrade, located on the Sava river bank, proposing to give its visitors an insight into the latest currents in architecture and design.
It was created as a space for exhibiting of things that were, but primarily and mostly of things that are yet to be created.
Today, design and architecture are the leading disciplines in world, significantly influencing and forming our lives.
Design is experiencing such an expansion, better said explosion, so it became difficult to stay updated, even if it regards the work of the leading creators.
The world of contemporary architecture and design is multidisciplinar & multifunctional. The top designers and architects are not limited by the traditional orders.
Borders are being erased, interests are overlapping, projects are intersecting...
SUPERSPACE is aiming to give its visitors an insight into those contemporary projects that could not be classified into standard exhibitions and collections of Belgrade's museums and galleries.
Belgrade, although proclaimed by the prestigious Financial Times as the city of future in South Europe, does not have official gallery of architecture and design, and this is an opportunity for SUPERSPACE to become one.
It was created after the revitalization of forgotten and devastated space of the BETON HALA (the Concrete Hall), which itself represents part of industrial architectural heritage.
SUPERSPACE is an example that a new spirit and perception of Belgrade could successfully bring us back to the map of European cultural events.
The Sava river banks have a long tradition of cultural spaces. The Museum of Contemporary Art is located on the opposite bank.
Now, there is also the SUPERSPACE.
It is good for both of our banks to be cultural.
