The Exposition FreshMadrid 2006
The Exposition FreshMadrid opens May 4th in COAM Foundation, 23 Piamonte street, Madrid. Sponsored by Madrid's Official College of Architects, this exhibition will be open until May 26.
FreshMadrid is an opportunity for young architects from Madrid, as new as the sociocultural phenomena which is object of.
This Exhibition will display the work of 22 Architecture Studios formed by the Superior Technical School of Architecture of Madrid. Most of the teachers from this institution present their work in MOMA: on site Exposition.
The exhibition uses the web-language based on the use of interaction strategies. Stimulates the creation and supports the production of new works and projects, an initiative that simultaneously selects the diffusion of works and projects, with the objective of offering a clear understanding of the mutations and the evolution of this discipline, a platform to watch the vast scene of the work of the young architects, granting protagonism to creation.
The idea arises after detecting a new attitude, a new way of positioning before the architecture project, its problematic and its limits of discipline speech on the part of professionals formed in the Superior Technical School of Architecture of Madrid between the latest 90's and early 2000, and that does not take care of cultural, geographic or thematic origin prejudices.
The selection of the Freshmadrid equipment does not respond to the idea of competition, aid or prize, it bases on the observation of a dangerous and propositive behaviour on the part of these young people. The innovation of this group's situation can be clearly identified in the incorporation of projectual tools to its repertoire that comes from Sociology, Politics, Anthropology, Biology, Economy, Ecology and that extends and reinforces the concept of multi-discipline in a new way, offering a space for those who travel the hybrid universe between the architecture and the contemporary art, free of ideological or formal preconceptions.
The "star-architect" leaves his site to the "architect in the street", next to his client, but near the society, experimental and investigator. It is essential to understand Freshmadrid's concept as something new, decontaminated of the preexistence of definitions on how an exhibition or a publication of architecture must be. That is why we use the web-language and interaction strategies with the objective to stimulate the joint creation and to support the production of new works and projects through new formats of relation.
Freshmadrid is also an ideological and instrumental position, it is the bet for a new documentary model.
