Filiz Akcakal's 'Fashion Show' will be held at Stadsschouwburg Utrecht, Lucasbolwerk 24 on the 11th of June, at 4.00 pm.
Originally from Istanbul, Filiz arrived in Holland to study fashion at the International Young Designers competition in Belgium; she has continued to further develop her own unique style.
Filiz's work is always intriguing. Her wrappings glide around the human body. Both smooth and tight. Closed, but also exposed. It is fashion not for an ordinary day. These are clothes that tell something about human identity and the hiding of it.
Behind the material, behind forms; where movement bring thee wrappings to life. Changing in space, they peel off layers of the material, exposing the open parts, curvatures and sharp lines. It is like architecture in textile coming to life, like soft cocoon forms, which move on the waves of life.
