 The 11th ART FORUM BERLIN -The International Fair for Contemporary Art - presents itself consequent in its selection and constantly focussing on new. From September 30 to October 4, opening September 29, 2006 the ART FORUM BERLIN appears as a precise, compact, actual fair with a by far wider range of international attendance and a fresher program than last year.
The annually rotating Admission Committee 2006 has made its choice out of a record number of applicants. About 120 Galleries from Europe, Asia, Australia, North- and South-America have been selected for this year's edition.

Members of the Admission Committee 2006 were Carlos Duran, Galeria Senda, Barcelona, Ellen de Bruijne, Ellen de Bruijne Projects, Amsterdam, Kamel Mennour, Gallery Kamel Mennour, Paris, and Markus Lüttgen, Johnen Galerie, Berlin, as well as the curators Beatrix Ruf, Kunsthalle Zurich, and Britta Schmitz, Hamburger Bahnhof - Museum für Gegenwart, Berlin. Georg Kargl, Galerie Kargl, Vienna, did represent the Galleries' Advisory Board as did Christian Nagel, Christian Nagel Galerie, Berlin/Cologne, who assumed the chair of the International Admission Committee.

The 11th ART FORUM BERLIN presents fresh and dynamic avant-garde on its highest level represented by galleries from 23 countries. Although the Berlin and German focus is still strong, international galleries are in the majority: from the USA13 galleries will be aboard, from France, Great Britain and the Netherlands respectively six galleries will participate. Among the international new participants are Sorcha Dallas, Glasgow, Christopher Grimes, Los Angeles, The Breeder, Athens, Linn Lühn, Cologne or veracortes, Lisbon. A selection of galleries who will exhibit for the first time in Berlin: Art:Concept, Paris, Tim van Laere, Antwerpen, Otto Schweins, Cologne, and Max Wigram, London. Anticipated are new discoveries by Helga de Alvear, Madrid, Thaddaeus Ropac, Paris/Salzburg and Nina Menocal, Mexico City. Back in Berlin are amongst others Susanne Vielmetter, Los Angeles as well as Spencer Brownstone and Elizabeth Dee, both from New York.

Well-known features of ART FORUM BERLIN will be retained, like the alphabetical placement of the exhibitors, the individual design of the booths with their 3.5-meter solid walls, the ART FORUM BERLIN Talks, which started in 2000 and the already traditional lounges and rest areas, specially conceived by artists for the fair. This year, some of the lounges will be designed by prize-winning artists of the GASAG-art-prize 2006.
