Visuality Check: Fabian Geyrhalter's Solo Photography Exhibition

Fabian Geyrhalter, Principal and Creative Director of the award winning communication design agency Geyrhalter Design, announced today his first curated solo photography show entitled "visuality check".
The opening reception, which coincides with the two-year anniversary celebration of Geyrhalter's design agency Geyrhalter Design Inc., will take place on September 8, 2006 at epOxybOx in Venice, California. The event will feature an open bar, desserts by acclaimed chef Cheryl Valesella, fine imported wines from Austria, DJ's T-Bird of Something Else! and Mark Farmer of 45 Vibe, an interactive photo and video booth and video installations by Fabian Geyrhalter. The evening under the stars will attract an influential crowd from the worlds of art, design and entertainment. Confirmed event sponsors include Inhance.net, Karl Strauss, Elixor G, Capitol Press and Evolution Juice. The opening reception will be a "no waste" event where only bio-degradable cups and utensils will be used.
The solo show at epOxybOx will feature 28 of Geyrhalter's photographs that will be divided into 3 themes: "social-political", "the unseen eye" and "landscape atmospheres". "visuality check" stems from the work selected having a common thread of seeing reality differently - it is a reality check in a visual way. "I have a critical eye towards everyday things and the urge to portray the ugly in a beautiful way, and the beautiful in a critical way. Photography is the medium I choose to share my vision, my viewpoints and the humor that it holds, because everyone will be able to see it in their own way, and I do not force an opinion on anyone," says Geyrhalter.
When looking at the work selected, one notices Geyrhalter's graphically trained eye, the precise composition and alignments. A friend told Geyrhalter at a young age to walk through the streets looking up, instead of down to the ground, as one usually does. "It changed my perspective of the normal, the obvious, quite a bit." he says, adding, "I came to the realization that a good Creative should be able to shoot interesting photos no matter where they are, what technical level they possess and the equipment which they use, even when only equipped with a Quick Snap camera and not being allowed to move their feet an inch. To me, that is when a creative professional can turn an artist," says Geyrhalter.
Fabian Geyrhalter's non-commercial photography work has only appeared in a group show with acclaimed photographer Olaf Heine in 2003 and in the photography book "28MM:OFFLINE" in 2005.
