Call for Papers for DMI Paris Education Conference
Design Thinking
The Design Management Institute (DMI), in collaboration with Lancaster University, UK; ESSEC Business School, France; and SDA Bocconi School of Management, Italy; is pleased to announce an International Education Conference, Design Thinking: New Challenges for Designers, Managers and Organizations. The conference will take place 14-15 April, 2008 at ESSEC Business School in Paris, La Défense. DMI invites paper proposals by 21 December, 2007.
DMI invites researchers and practitioners from academia, businesses, government agencies, or other parties to submit a paper proposal that covers the overarching theme of design thinking and design and innovation management education, including those focused on theory-building and empirical research as well as case studies. The program will comprise keynote presentations, panel discussions with key opinion-formers in the field, full paper presentations, and poster sessions of less developed and work in progress papers.
Design Thinking will be chaired by Dr. Thomas Lockwood, President, DMI and supported by Dr. Sabine Junginger, Lecturer of Product Design and Design Management, Lancaster University. The committee includes Dr. Rachel Cooper, Director, Lancaster University; Dr. Hervé Mathe, Professor, ESSEC Business School; Dr. Brigitte Borja de Mozota, Senior Lecturer, Brunel University; and Gabriella Lajocono, Professor, SDA Bocconi School of Management.
"Because the role of design in business is changing so rapidly, and the idea of 'design thinking' is becoming integral in practice, we believe an education conference focused on these issues is extremely relevant. To that end, we have assembled an outstanding Scientific Committee to explore how, when and why designing and design management is turning into an organizational asset and tool," stated Dr. Thomas Lockwood.
For consideration, interested individuals may email 1000-word abstract proposals by 21 December 2007 to s.junginger lancaster.ac.uk. Authors will be notified of accepted proposals in early January 2008 and will have until April 2008 to develop a full paper of 4000 to 6000 words.
Design Thinking will be held at ESSEC Business School in Paris, La Défense. The conference will precede DMI's Design/Management Europe 12 conference in Paris, 16- 18 April, 2008. Registration for both conferences will be announced shortly.
With 1,400 members in 44 countries, DMI is the international authority, resource and advocate on design management, and a thought leader in the areas of design management, design strategy and design leadership.
