DEADGOOD

BALTIC presents a selection of designs by Deadgood, a Newcastle-based design brand which combines innovation and technical skill with boundless enthusiasm and an entrepreneurial spirit.
Formed in 2004 by university friends, Dan Ziglam and Elliot Brook, Deadgood specialises in the design, manufacture and distribution of furniture and interior accessories. Ziglam and Brook's approach to design is simple, original, fresh and innovative; their aim, to enhance our surroundings with practical solutions. Deadgood products are currently sold world wide through their online shop, an international retail network and through high profile trade fairs across the globe.
Deadgood bring their exciting range of products to the ground floor of BALTIC, including their award-winning Form stools, and the Deadgood Mirror, a map of the UK cut from a single sheet of super mirror polished stainless steel. The installation will also see the launch of the new Deadgood shelf, a single bar that extends from the wall, and incorporates a simple U Bend that offers support for your favourite book.
"The relationship between the art and design worlds really interests us, and this is a great opportunity for Deadgood to team up with BALTIC and showcase our work to a wider audience," says Ziglam." Brook adds, "BALTIC and Deadgood have both undergone huge developments over the last few years and it's amazing for us to be asked to represent design in NewcastleGateshead to people outside the region."
Deadgood have been featured in Elle Decoration's 2006 'New Brit Talent Hot List,' Wallpaper* magazine, the Sunday Times supplement, 'North East England - People who are shaping its success,' and the Telegraph magazine, and 2007 promises great things for the brand. Alongside the introduction of more furniture, the launch of a lighting range, and a new website and catalogue.
