FITC "Get a Job" Event Encourages Recent Grads and Second Career Professionals
to Check Out Career Opportunities Available in New Media Industry
Recent graduates from post-secondary design and technology programs and second career professionals can check out the many employment options available in the new media industry at a free "Get A Job" event hosted by FITC on Saturday, April 19 between 12 Noon and 6 PM at the Toronto Hilton, 145 Richmond Street West. The event is part of FITC Toronto, a four-day design and technology conference, which attracts over 1,000 attendees from around the world.
"New career opportunities are constantly emerging in the new media sector," says Shawn Pucknell, Founder of FITC. "We want to make sure that recent grads and people considering a second career in new media are aware of the options that are open to them and have an understanding of what skill sets employers are looking for."
"Get A Job" is structured so that attendees can meet face-to-face with prospective employers, ask questions, and get a general feel for how the respective companies work. Many of North America's top Interactive agencies will be represented at the event including: Blast Radius, Critical Mass, Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Decode, Design Axiom, Fuel Industries, Fjord Interactive, Glucose Digital, Henderson Bas, Indusblue, Olson, Sapient and The Cartoon Network among others.
The "Get A Job" event also features Interactive designer Erik Natzke who will give a talk on career planning and offer insights into how he managed his own career -- from start to stardom. Eric has received numerous awards within the fields of both design and advertising and was named one of the "Top 10 Young Designers" by HOW Magazine.
New media is counted among the knowledge-based industries that will pave the way for continued job creation, sustained growth, and the expansion of trade in the global market. The sector includes individuals and teams working in 3D, advertising, animation, game design, motion graphics, rich media. Web design and video.
