Playing Architecture: Echoes Among the Vaults
The Musical Exhibition
The Idea What are the connections between architecture and music? How to establish formal relations between these two expressive forms? What is the clue today to read the harmony of the past architecture ? Which elements of the language common to music and architecture are we referring to for the new artistical projects?
The musicians Antonio Bologna and Andrea Taroppi together with arch. Fortunato D'Amico have met to make inquiries about it. "Playing architecture" with "Echoes among the vaults" is the first step of this investigation.
An original and musical exhibition, and a road exhibition will take place inside precious architectural sites which will be exalted through their resonance.
The opening will take place in Santa Maria del Popolo Church in Vigevano (PV), remarkable church in pure baroque style with an elliptical plan and large choir.
From Nov. 5th until 25 th, it is possible to visit the exhibition which will give resonance to the harmony of the church.
Through the exhibition, the building is filled with the sounds reflected by the different elements which contribute to express the intensity and quality of the various parts of it. Directionality, density and space dimension are felt at a highly sensory level.
The sounds are organized in melodious fragments which come from the christian hymnal collections; a counterpoint is supplied eventually with melodious suggestions on different spatial levels. The exhibition supports the unity of the technique with esthetics and emotions according to an integral approach which is very uncommon nowadays.
"Echoes among the vaults" is promoted by the association Le Zolle of Vigevano and the collaboration of Savogi Srl for the display and Medium Size Company as the Press Office.
