That's Design!: the New Creative Generation
The Event Promoting Young Design
Following the resounding success of the first edition at ZonaTortona Design 2007, That's Design! - The New Creative Generation returns for 2008.
Promoted by Domus Academy, the POLI.design Consortium and the Faculty of Design of Milan's Polytechnic and ZonaTortona, That's Design! brings together design schools from 4 continents.
This year That's Design! will take place in the evocative industrial spaces of ExAnsaldo (Via Tortona 54), a location which sets off the creativity of the students' designs within a specially created exhibition setting.
On show are the designers and selected products from the various schools. A showcase where universities, academies and young professionals can show off their work and exchange ideas through their work and personal contact with other designers and industry leaders.
The schools participating in That's Design! 2008 are: Strate Collège Designers (Francia), la Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle (Germania), Domus Academy (Italia), Politecnico di Milano (Italia), Scuola Politecnica di Design (Italia), Accademia del Lusso (Italia), Unitec New Zealand - School of Design (Nuova Zelanda), British Higher School of Art and Design (Russia), Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design (Svezia), Lund University, Industrial Design LTH (Svezia), University College Falmouth (UK), Canterbury school of architecture in collaboration with Architecture Project (UK), Rhode Island School of Design (Usa). That's Design! will host a delegation from Hong Kong Design Centre (Hong Kong), ), while among many emerging designers we find also Stefania Andorlini. An event which involves the whole world, literally.
In addition the event will host a series of presentations from those corporate partners who have supported the project, and made That's Design! possible.
In particular, That's Design! is grateful to the contribution of CampariSoda, whose REDesign project seeks to "reinvent a contemporary aesthetic for the cocktail with the reinterpretation of the iconic bottle designed by Fortunato Depero. Markus Benesch, creator of the CampariSoda space, evokes values of simplicity, irreverence and conviviality of the brand by redesigning the traditional 'cocktail hour' ". In addition, in co-operation with Alcantara LAB a series of live performances will be staged.
