Art Director Mike Slane Joins Exopolis

Designer, animator and art director Mike Slane has made the move to creative studio Exopolis, where he will oversee both broadcast and interactive campaigns for the multidisciplinary shop. His first project upon joining the company is co-managing a creative team on a project for Delta Airlines.
"We're so excited to have Mike on board," said Exopolis Partner Daniel Arcana. "His experience at Motion Theory leading teams on high concept 3D projects will be a great addition to our core capabilities, and Mike will be a key asset as we move into developing live-action projects."
Mike Slane's portfolio, culled from a four-year career as a designer and animator at LA production company Motion Theory, spans such award-winning work as the HP "Hands" campaign via Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, Nike spots through Wieden + Kennedy, Beck's Mad Magazine fold-in inspired music video for the track "Girl," the commercial "Wrapshear" for Reebok via mcgarrybowen, and spotwork for Emerald Nuts, Cadillac and Budweiser.
Slane was featured in an article entitled "Field Guide to Design Talent 2006" that ran in Step Inside Design magazine, and in 2004, he helped bring artist duo KozynDan's illustrations to life for the opening title sequence for that year's Resfest. Slane was recruited by Motion Theory fresh after graduating from California College of Arts with a BFA in Graphic Design.
His entrée into motion graphics came by way of photography, a discipline that continues to inform the motion work he touches.
"What attracted me to Exopolis was how the studio has one foot in broadcast and one foot in web, as well as the content possibilities that I could produce with that kind of specialty. I also liked that during one of my first interviews with Exopolis, someone referred to the studio as an 'idea lab,' and since coming on board, I've seen those words put into action. At Exopolis, every project is treated as it if has a meaning and purpose. It's not just about selling something although the studio does that incredibly well - it's about bringing as much art into a project as it possibly can."
Exopolis is a creative studio combining the strategic and conceptual capabilities of a traditional marketing consultancy with the technical and design chops of a broadcast and interactive production company. With a focus on an integrated, organic approach, Exopolis ignores traditional media divisions reflecting the inevitable future of communications. Operating from its headquarters in Los Angeles, the studio has generated award-winning broadcast, interactive, mobile and print work for clients including Universal Pictures, Disney, Nickelodeon, IFC, HBO, McCann-Erickson, JWT, Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, Crispin Porter + Bogusky, TBWA\Chiat\Day, Publicis, Toei Animation World Wide, The Atlantis Hotel Group and The Coca-Cola Company.
