Pantone Introduces Color Tool to Enable Workflow Versatility for Fashion and Interior Designers
Pantone, Inc., the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the design industries, today announced the availability of the PANTONE FASHION+HOME cotton selector, the first in a series of publications that utilizes the new PANTONE FASHION+HOME SMART Color System. SMART is part of the company's commitment to deliver innovation that is Sensible, Manageable, Accessible, Relevant and Tough, reducing costs and shortening the color development cycle.
The PANTONE FASHION+HOME cotton selector is a two-book set featuring all 1,925 colors included in the PANTONE FASHION+HOME Color System. The guide features removable strips, each containing seven colors, which are chromatically arranged by color family and mounted waterfall style on the page to enhance utility and functionality in the color development cycle. The two-ply cotton looped color swatches measure .75" W x .875" H and are unbacked to improve color selection and matching throughout all phases of the design process. The publication is the ideal, permanent in-house reference for any designer selecting and specifying color for home furnishings or fashion design.

The PANTONE FASHION+HOME cotton selector is a companion to the PANTONE SMART Color Swatch Cards, released in March 2007. Available in all 1,925 colors, SMART Color Swatch Cards also play a crucial role in matching color from design table to manufacturing plant. Designers can affix SMART Color Swatch Cards to projects in order to specify, control and communicate color choices to manufacturing facilities around the globe, dramatically increasing speed-to-market and reducing costs.
PANTONE SMART Color Swatch Cards come with double-folded fabric measuring 4" x 4". Unfolded, the fabric swatch measures 4" x 8", giving users twice the amount of fabric for optimum color visualization and instrumental evaluation. The loose, unbacked design also enables fabrics to be easily draped and compared against other colors. Each card is identified with four PANTONE Color name and number strips so a single swatch can easily be cut into quarters and used for multiple design projects and in different locations. The swatches are individually packaged and are free of any backing paper or adhesives that affect the color appearance of spectral readings.
