Planet Propaganda Adds Jona Decker as Web Developer
Planet Propaganda hired Jona Decker as a full-time web developer. She started working with the design, advertising and interactive company in January as a web design and development consultant and accepted a full-time position in April.
She works closely with Planet's other interactive media developers, as well as its brand managers and principals. Most recently, she has assisted with clients' website updates and has been involved with developing and improving online dealer support programs for Replogle Globes, and Bretford furniture and workspaces.
"The web-based dealer education and marketing tools that Planet's creating are especially interesting because we design a flexible framework that allows the client to manage its own content without being able to do any unintentional harm to the design. With a password, the client can change its product information, add new artwork, highlight timely specials, or update distributor contacts, all while saving the typical fees associated with outside maintenance," Decker explains. "One client said the upfront costs were about one-ninth of what the company would have otherwise spent in services fees for the year."
Along with expertise in content management systems, Decker has worked extensively with open source tools, information architecture, navigation design, usability and accessibility. She draws from a decade of creative and cost-effective approaches targeting, planning, designing and developing coherent intranet, extranet, and internet websites that result in increased visits from unique and repeat users.
Before joining Planet Propaganda, she worked on in-house web and marketing communications teams. For six years, she worked in web services with Marshall Erdman & Associates of Madison. Prior to that, she was a web content administrator for Marshfield Clinic's corporate communications department in Marshfield, Wis., and a project manager for regional internet service provider NeoSoft, Inc. of Houston, Texas.
Originally from central Wisconsin, Decker moved to Louisiana and earned a bachelor's degree in advertising and public relations from the University of New Orleans. She has earned certifications through the Information Technology Infrastructure Library and Webprofessionals.org. She has volunteered her technological skills for a variety of national associations. She continues her volunteerism fostering, assessing and training dogs. In addition to her own two Belgian Shepherds, she trains companion and performance dogs in agility, obedience, tracking and scent detection.
Planet Propaganda is a design, advertising and interactive company committed to shaping passion-based brands. Founded in 1989 in Madison, Wis., Planet's national clients include Gary Fisher mountain bikes, Bretford furniture and workspaces, PunchStock images, and Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches.
