Renegade Does Good by Redesigning the Children for Children Website
Renegade, a New York-based integrated ideas agency, has completed the redesign of the website for Children for Children, a New York-based non-profit organization. Children for Children promotes hands-on youth volunteering and giving from an early age and reaches out to concerned New York City parents, educators and students who are trying to make service a part of their lives and to better their communities.
"Renegade has been an interactive partner with Children for Children since we built their first website more than eight years ago" said Drew Neisser, CEO of Renegade. "Three years ago we designed a database called Kids for Community that made it easy for kids to find volunteer opportunities and now it was time that we took their website and transformed it into a social community" added Neisser.
In tackling the site redesign, the Renegade creative team thought the best approach was to use the Internet to build a community around Children for Children that would enable all interested parties to instantly plug into the organization through multiple avenues. To effect this change, Renegade reorganized and edited all existing content to make it more readable and accessible, made the site more manageable through a reformatted interactive design that allows their age diverse audience to find appropriate content, and improved site functionality and integrated new community building tools such as a blog that allows Children for Children staff to easily post news and events.
The new blog and a flickr treatment are especially engaging new features. On the blog, people are welcome to comment on each post, email posts directly to friends, and explore how many other people are reading the same content through de.li.cious. The built-in a custom flickr treatment lets Children for Children volunteers document their work more easily so that site visitors can see first hand the impact that CFC has had on children, schools and communities. "The new site makes it easier than ever to interact with Children for Children and become part of their growing community. We're especially proud to help CFC help kids 'grow involved' online," said Neisser.
