Renault to Produce Clio III in Turkey
Carlos Ghosn, President and CEO of Renault, announced on May 25, 2005 that Renault will produce the three-door and five-door Clio III in its Bursa plant in Turkey.
It is the second production site for this new model along with the Flins plant in France. The investment in the Bursa plant for this new model totals 216 million euros.
Clio III will add to the two models currently in production at Bursa, the Mégane sedan and Clio Symbol, the sedan version of Clio II which is the best-selling car in Turkey.
Long-standing market leader in Turkey, Renault sold 112,781 passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in 2004, taking a 16.3% market share. The Bursa plant, which started production in 1971, rolled out 197,353 vehicles in 2004, up 49.2% on 2003, and built 123,306 engines and 163,375 gearboxes.
