Engelbrechts Presents the Plasma Chair: Designed by Erik Magnussen
Seating comfort and exceptional utilisation of materials characterise the new Erik Magnussen chair from Engelbrechts. Plasma is the name of chair, and it has been designed for both indoor and outdoor use.
Plasma has been several years in the making but has already won 1st prize in the "Best of the Best" category of the international red dot awards. The chair is now on the market and will be for sale from mid-August.
Seat and back is, as well as the optional armrest, a highly advanced technical challenge as they are produced in injection moulded glass intensified nylon - an exclusive material which preserves durability and colour intensity much better than regular plastic chairs.
Plasma is available in 11 different colours - with the option of choosing special seat, back, and armrest combinations. All in all, there are 14,641 possible combinations that encourage the user to give the chair a personal as well as an individual look.
With Plasma, Erik Magnussen has sought to utilise the materials to their fullest. So while saving resources, areas such as comfort, aesthetics, durability, and weight have been optimised. Moreover, a minimum of plastic material has been used and the aluminium legs are deliberately designed to reinforce the plastic seat.
The chair weighs only 2.8 kilo (approx. 6 lbs.), and is among other uses, ideal for seating environments that must be moved or changed often.

About Erik Magnussen
Erik Magnussen, born 1940 in Copenhagen, was educated as a ceramic artist from the Danish School of Arts and Crafts. He got his diploma in 1960 and at the same time received a silver medal for his work. For a number of years he has worked for Bing & Grøndahl, and among his latest works are: furniture for Engelbrechts, doorknobs for Franz Schneider Brake Gmbh, applied art for Stelton in stainless steel and artificial materials, porcelain lamps for Licht & Form, and furniture for Fritz Hansen for among others. Erik Magnusson's work has been exhibited in a number of places around the world - one of them being the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
About Engelbrechts
Engelbrechts works closely together with Erik Magnussen, Jørgen Rasmussen and the architectural firm Vilhelm Lauritzen. This joint venture has resulted in a number of exclusive pieces of furniture. To mention a few, Erik Magnussen has developed and designed the chairs Charik, Zdown, and Xsit as well as the Charik table - the latter in corporation with Jørgen Rasmussen.
Engelbrechts work with talented designers has resulted in a number of furniture series, which fully live up to the Engelbrechts philosophy, which is to keep a clean line in concept and design.
