Isle Lounge Sofa by Asobi
Asobi successfully introduced Isle Lounge sofa on this year's London design festival. Isle Lounge was exhibited at Designersblock London. Sofa was created as a derivative of a simple dwelling environment for zero gravity. Its vast proportions (5,4mx3mx1,5m) enable unique, almost weightless experience. Simple yet high-tech construction gives it a very stylish appearance. The outer shell is made from carbon epoxy and upholstered in special 3d textile from Hybrids+Fusion. Sofa's total weight is less than 200kg standing on just four thin legs, yet it can hold as many people as you can possibly imagine. Isle Lounge can be bought for 30.000 £.
Since the end of cold war the mission of national space programs re-focused on scientific research. We have finally started to learn about our planet and what lies beyond. Satellites, deep space missions and Hubble telescope brought us further than we imagined only a few decades ago.
But with cognition of ourselves in the context of space programs we have not reached further than spacewalk outside our only space station. Today's astronauts, cosmonauts and tycoonauts are pilots and scientists. They are just reconnaissance in unfamiliar environment which remains to be prepared for future development of our civilization.
Much of the work awaits to be done - to realize and create Cosmo-sapiens. What makes Cosmo-sapiens different from homosapiens? Homo-sapiens lacks knowledge and understanding of cosmos, of the order, on which already Plato, Hegel and Nietzsche debated. To gain this knowledge the experience of weightlessness is a basic condition. Therefore humanity, for its future development, urgently needs a Cosmic University to function in zero gravity where critical mind will work together with creative mind. Creative mind needs to be isolated from existing cultural patterns and separated from gravity to be able to express his genius. Big emptiness, big empty space has to serve as an endless stage, endless canvas or endless void. Let it create and make research separated from anything existing with endlessness, emptiness and depth. This new environment will enable creative mind a step into new non-virtual dimensions. Practical mind transforms this knowledge in new dwelling experience, which is due to its different starting points importantly different from anything existing. Of course new origins have to be sought and build constructively upon them. Existing dwelling practice in zero gravity is still based on Earth's gravity. New ideas are introduced only evolutionary - gradually - slowly. Our intention is to set radical starting-points for a creation of a true cosmic dwelling experience. Only radical cosmic dwelling practice can create a new Cosmo-sapiens.
Isle lounge is first in the series of products that are based on the research of radical starting-points for creating cosmic dwelling experience. Since present activities in interplanetary space are of a limited feasibility, lessons and activities are transformed into momentary planetary experience. Just so, that we wouldn't have to wait. It is created as derivative of simple dwelling environment for living in zero gravity. Suitable surroundings have to be made to protect the body of sapiens from influences of interplanetary space. Cosmos represents utopian empty reality, which in our nearby interplanetary space can only be put near. Interplanetary space is full of interplanetary actions therefore we can only talk about virtual empty reality. And therefore our surroundings have to be surrounded by certain qualities which otherwise would not be needed. In so making we help ourselves with the use composite shell, which engulfs everything needed to recreate the best possible approximation of empty reality.
