Sharp Announces Availability of 65-inch Widescreen Aquos, World's Largest, Most Stunning LC HDTV
Sharp today achieved an incredible breakthrough in flat-panel television, announcing the U.S. availability of the world's largest available LCD-TV, the LC-65D90U AQUOS, for this fall. The new 65-inch AQUOS is the flagship of Sharp's industry-leading roster of Emmy Award-winning* flat-panel TVs that deliver leading-edge sight and sound experiences as well as unmatched contemporary designs. With screen sizes ranging from 13- to 65-inches, Sharp's AQUOS collection reinforces the company's dominant position as the global leader in Liquid Crystal Television.**
"Year after year, Sharp Electronics breaks new barriers in home entertainment. Last year we delivered the first 45-inch 1080p LC HDTV before any of our competitors and we've raised the bar once again with the awe-inspiring 65-inch LC HDTV," said Bob Scaglione, senior vice president, marketing, Consumer Electronics Group, Sharp Electronics Corporation. "The new 65-inch AQUOS with built-in HDTV tuner and CableCARD slot is truly the ultimate in home entertainment, and we are proud to announce fall delivery of this breakthrough product to our loyal dealers and customers."
The 65-inch AQUOS is not only the world's largest available LCD-TV, it also delivers a stellar full spec 1080p (progressive) image, the leading high-definition TV standard. The LC-65D90U also features a new four-wavelength backlight system that provides enhanced color reproduction with deeper, more vivid reds than previously possible. It is compatible with the new Digital Cable Ready specifications, so consumers can simply insert a CableCARD from their cable-TV company and enjoy high-definition TV without the need for an outboard set-top box.*** The television offers outstanding 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution with a true 16:9 aspect ratio, an enhanced 800:1 contrast ratio, and Sharp's exclusive Quick Shoot video circuitry which delivers a fast response time of less than 12ms. The result is a viewing experience that leaves competitors in the digital dust.
"These sets are just the latest products from our new sixth-generation factory in Kameyama, Japan, where the integrated manufacture of LCD panels to LCD TVs takes place," said Scaglione. "When the factory opened we stated it would deliver the industry's largest and highest-quality flat-panel TVs, and in less than a year, that statement is a reality."
The LC-65D90U features TV Guide On Screen, the consumer-friendly, free interactive programming guide that provides control over digital television viewing. Sporting an elegant, high-end titanium finish, the unit has a detachable stand and bottom speakers that enable a variety of installation options. The LC-65D90U will be available in November for a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $20,999.99.
