Kapsel Media Center PC Design
With outstanding design features and top-of-the-line technical functionality, Kapsel is intended for the trendy, design-minded and quality conscious consumers in the rapidly growing market for home media centers.
As a Media Center PC with a small form factor, measuring only 27 x 23 x 10 cm, Kapsel is designed to be positioned either horizontally, vertically or on the wall. Adding to its attractive design, Kapsel features a shell made out of quality ceramics. Instead of imitating the looks of traditional consumer electronics like DVD players, CD players and VHS recorders; Kapsel combines all these functions in a different shape.
Performance Kapsel enables you to take advantage of all exciting possibilities within Windows Media Center Edition, such as online Music and Video services, TV viewing and recording, in a whole new way thanks to the Electronic Program Guide and time-shift functions. It also gives you easy access to your Music Library with the help of a screen interface, which is adapted for couch viewing. You don't have to lean forward to read the small fonts in the ordinary Windows desktop.
Kapsel comes with very high performance both regarding processor power, audio, video and networking capabilities. Being one of the first to use the Intel Viiv platform, Kapsel will take advantage of such cutting edge technology as dual-core processors, ability to very quickly turn on and off the PC (Intel Quick Resume Technology), easy remote controlled configuration of network systems, media server "engine" that reformats digital content files to be viewed on other devices in the home, high definition, 7.1 surround sound, and the ability to play high definition video formats, among other features.
Good Looks Kapsel is much smaller and more thoroughly designed than any of its competitors, features that are very important when you want to place a computer in your living room. The award-winning Swedish design agency Propeller came up with the design. Kapsel is also very powerful and extremely silent and is barely audible even in a very quiet room.
Why Kapsel? Kapsel is designed to be the first choice for people with very high demands on form and functionality, and who want to use the full potential of their broadband connection and their Plasma/LCD-TV.
With Kapsel you will be able to watch videos in High Definition (better than DVD quality), rent movies and watch TV over the Internet. The number of interesting services within the Media Center Edition framework is expected to grow rapidly in the following years, and if you want to use other Windows XP applications with your Kapsel, they will work just as well. Kapsel will be delivered with remote control and remote keyboard.
When Kapsel will go into production in first quarter of 2006, price not yet disclosed.
