L.A. Design Week
The Los Angeles area, a mecca for high-style, trend-setting products and innovative design will host a celebration of design, March 27-30, 2006, during L.A.DesignWeek.
This exciting week draws on the resurgence in the contract furnishings industry and the spirit of partnership in L.A.'s design community to create a truly unique event specifically for the West Coast. For the first time, each day of L.A.DesignWeek will focus on a different design district around the city and feature a full schedule of product displays, major contract showrooms, continuing education, seminars, networking and parties. L.A.DesignWeek encompasses NeoCon West at the L.A. Mart, major contract furnishings showrooms in downtown Los Angeles and the Santa Monica Design District, WestWeek at the Pacific Design Center, and the Avenues of Art and Design in West Hollywood. This comprehensive schedule of events and locations allows thousands of designers, facility managers and real estate professionals to navigate the immense offerings.
Kicking off the event (March 27-28) will be NeoCon West, the West Coast's largest exposition and conference for commercial interiors, with a host of boutique-style contract furnishings exhibits, special events and educational programming. NeoCon West features the latest product innovations being generated on the West Coast and will include renowned keynote speakers and informative seminars. NeoCon West highlights will include:
The West Edge exhibit Six designers each create displays representing retail, corporate, spa, hospitality, education and multifunctional environments. Participants include Gensler, Interior Architects, Langdon Wilson, HOK, Griffin & Enright and Hodgetts & Fung.
Fine Living: 2026 The shape, function and style of the live/work environment is about to transform how design, technology and new products innovations will propel the overall architecture of tomorrow's urban dwelling with the Fine Living: 2026 installation. Fine Living will be created by Patrick Tighe, AIA, principal, Tighe Architecture.
Educational Seminars, Association Forums and Tours Over the course of week, NeoCon West will offer more than 30 CEU-accredited seminars, association forums and tours. Programming is designed to enhance the show experience for attendees, providing them with unique educational opportunities to expand industry knowledge and keep current with the latest trends in commercial interior design and architecture. Student Series On Tuesday, March 28, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., students and educators are invited to discover the latest product innovations from the industry's top manufacturers of corporate, health care, government, hospitality, retail and residential furnishings. Karim Rashid, a leading figure in product and interior design, fashion furniture, lighting, and art, will kick-off the Student Series as the featured keynote speaker.
