Hong Kong Award for Industries 2006
Hong Kong - Philips has once again received two prestigious awards from one of the most influential commercial organizations in Asia. The Philips WACS700 Wireless Music Centre & Station and the SHS850 Outdoor Corded Headphone have both been recognized in the Consumer Product Design category of the new Hong Kong Awards for Industries.
The Hong Kong Awards for Industries was officially created in 2005 by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), which merged the existing Hong Kong Awards for Industry and the Hong Kong Awards for Services. Philips was a regular winner of the Hong Kong Awards for Industry, which came into being in 1989, most recently in 2004 with the key019 Digital Camcorder and the PSS010 Personal Sound System.
The merged awards scheme continues to encourage excellence and promote successful practices and strategies in different aspects of industrial performance within the Hong Kong region. The award website talks about recognizing the "outstanding achievements of Hong Kong enterprises in their move towards higher technology and higher value-added activities."
The WACS700 sets music free in the home The Philips Wireless Music Center and Station (WACS700) gives music lovers a real taste of freedom by allowing them to store their entire CD collection on hard disk and then listen to it anywhere in the house. In this way it is a complete solution for digital music storage, management and distribution. Up to 750 CDs can be stored centrally, with stored music then wirelessly streamed to a maximum of five stations at various locations throughout the house. These stations can all play the same music, five different songs or any combination in between. Yet although it uses the latest in WiFi and sound reproduction technology, the WACS700 manages to remain in the mainstream price range and usability criteria.
The SHS850; a new look and feel for personal music enjoyment The fabric-covered Philips Outdoor Corded Neckband Headphone (SHS850) introduces a totally new look and feel to personal music enjoyment on the move. It is the first neckband on the market with such a lightweight construction encased in a stylish fabric sleeve. The lightweight design means improved comfort during prolonged use, while the extremely soft ear hooks clamp gently over the ear. The neckband automatically adjusts to fit the width of the head, while the ear hooks can bend to accommodate all ear sizes.
Investing in Asia Both the WACS700 Wireless Music Centre & Station and the SHS850 Outdoor Corded Headphone were designed and developed in Hong Kong, confirming Philips' commitment to delivering life-style focused electronics and investing in production, creative design and technological development work in the Asian region.
