PLD: Professional Lighting Design
It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness!
Magic wand differentiating the object, the place or just a "moment": the light
No doubt, magic is created by nothing else then "experience". With a lightning project worked out by a conscious, trained, experienced lighting designer, it is possible to change the appearance of a place, more important, its soul. However, "Lighting design" is a subject, which has a very short history in Turkey. Designers, who concentrate on light for product designs are just growing, our historical buildings, which attract millions of people to this country, are being illuminated since very shortly the way they deserve. However, even late, Turkey is finally getting enlightened the way it has to be".
That the Professional Lighting Design, the worldwide unique lighting magazine being issued in German, in English and Chinese and now also in Turkish, is one of the major indicators for this. PLD, as the official publication of the European Lighting Designers Association (ELDA+) and International Lighting Designers Association (IALD), filters new products and trends on the market, the applications of architectures and interior decorators working with light, international famous lighting designers and architects. The bi-monthly issued magazine aims to be used as a primary reference source.
Following the footsteps of the doctrine of Confucius, who said " It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness", you will find in the new issue of PLD, which takes an active role in the development of the lighting design training in Turkey, the history of lightening, the methods how to change visual perception, buildings throughout the world dressed in white light "without make-up", the projects of the students of Bahcesehir University and some lightning examples of showrooms/shop windows in Turkey.
