Wally Awards Designer's Choice Winner: Yellow Fin
Manuel's Restaurant Menu Takes Third Annual Designer's Choice
Designers and creative professions have cast their votes and the results are in! Austin, Texas-based Yellow Fin has won the Designer's Choice Wally Award for its menu redesign for Manuel's restaurant. Yupo Corporation America will be accepting new submissions for the fourth annual Wally Awards beginning June 12, 2006, at the HOW Conference, and online at http://www.wallyawards.com.
Yellow Fin was charged with redesigning the menu and logo of one of Austin's favorite Mexican restaurants. Manuel's features an extensive menu offering Happy Hour Specials, lunch, brunch, dinner, drinks, and desserts. "They were looking for an attention getting, flexible and multi-tasked menu solution," says Yellow Fin CEO Chris Moujaes. "We also needed to find a solution that would be both beautiful and incredibly durable."
Yellow Fin chose an engaging color palette of fanciful reds, soothing blues, and countervailing yellow-patterned banding which formed the perfect backdrop for the elegant and modern sans-serif typeface and bold icon-driven menu sheets. "The colors look amazing on YUPO," says Yellow Fin Creative Director, Sean McKenna. . "The menu is one of the first tactile experiences a customer has with a restaurant, its super smooth appeal as well as the fact that it is ultra durable and washable made it the perfect material choice."
Like all Wally Award winners, Yellow Fin will receive a $1,000 cash prize, a customized Wally trophy, and a Pantone Color Cue 2.
Entries for the 2006 Wally Awards will be accepted beginning June 12, 2006. Three winners will be chosen by a panel of distinguished industry professionals while a fourth will be chosen via online voting.
To enter the 2006 Wally Awards:
- Candidates must first register at http://www.wallyawards.com or at Yupo's booth at the HOW conference and include a short description explaining why YUPO paper was chosen for the job.

- All entry samples must be postmarked by September 29, 2006.
- Three winners will be announced in November/December 2006 based on functionality, originality, and creativity. Runners-up will be entered into the Designer's Choice category and a winner chosen via on-line voting in March 2007.
