Russian Fashion Week's 5th Anniversary Show Shines on Red Square

RFW's massive tents on Red Square attracted Russia's famous pop stars, TV and film stars, international media, as well as the country's elite and emerging designers. Russian Fashion Week just concluded its tenth show, (March 30 - April 6), right next to the world renowned St. Basil's Cathedral on Red Square. The biannual event wakes up the Kremlin each April and October, and is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation.
In honor of RFW's 5th anniversary show, top designers from Great Britain and Spain made the pilgrimage to Moscow to introduce their Autumn/Winter collections. GQ and British Glamour Designer of the Year, Julien Macdonald knocked out the Russian retailers and media, and set the tone for a week of fashion excellence and celebrations of Russia's emergence onto the world's fashion stage.

RFW 2006 by the Numbers - 48,000 guests visited RFW's catwalks on Red Square, and RFW's scenic Moscow venues. - 17 designers at Russian Fashion Week participated in the "Russian Designers Against AIDS" project, in conjunction with Transatlantic Partners Against AIDS. - Russia's exciting pop-fashion-trio FRESH ART ended the week long festivities with a performance art party, sponsored by Motorola, who raffled off a diamond cell phone, decorated by Fresh Art. - 300 models participated in RFW, with Evgenia Tolstikova (Point Agency) winning Russia's "Fashion TV/ First Face Award." [FTV First Face Model Award is held at all the major fashion weeks around the globe including Russian Fashion Week, whose celebrities partied until dawn at the aesthetically dazzling Dяgilev night club, Moscow's legendary acrobat bar. - 1100 journalists and photographers were accredited at RFW's Red Square press center, including 25 major western glossies that reviewed RFW shows. Getty Images also became an official partner of Russian Fashion Week this season.

Tatiana Parfionova, Julia Dalakian, Max Chernitsov, Arsenicum by Enton, Shevchenko, Egor Zaitsev, Olga Romina, Chistova & Endourova, Daria Razumikhina, Larisa Pogoretskaya, Sergei Teplov, Masha Sharoeva, Frol Romanoff, NB&Karavay, and Olga Samoschenko lead a strong field of designers that are currently defining and developing Russian Fashion.
