A Familiar Face in Zona Tortona: Adnan Serbest
Zona Tortana is an area where you can escape from the commercially purposed booths in Milan Design Week, have a deep fresh breath and feel design inside you. It is a design town which surrounds you with surprising ideas every year. In Zona Tortana, artists' studios, old factory buildings, shops are rented for one week to the designers coming from all over the world and this marvellous town is then transformed into a culture and design festival.
You are drawn like a magnet into this meeting point where world's famous designs and designers are collected together, people are wandering around facinated with art, design and creativity in old Italian streets, every night parties are organized introducing designers to each other. While walking under the shadows of the old buildings, you run into a different culture in every street corner. But the spoken language is the same: "design".
Adnan Serbest who has achieved many successes both in Turkey and in the World, was an inhabitant of this town for one week. Adnan Serbest has exhibitied his new collection for the first time in January in the imm cologne exhibition in Cologne; and then had the opportunity to exhibit his products in the design exhibition in Milan between the dates 5-10 April 2006. Adnan Serbest products which were exhibited inside the Studio Goradesky in Zona Tortona, were highly appreciated by the visitors due to their concept of uniqueness.
Adnan Serbest attended Zona Tortona with 9 pieces of the collection that consists of 25 pieces in total. His wing chair (bergere) design named No.8 which totally made of crom was chosen as among "Best of 2006 furniture" by the Wallpaper magazine. The newest piece of the collection, shd chair attracts attention with its simple lines and its delicateness. No:7 wing chair (bergere) which is also totally made of crom is the most interesting piece of the collection. No:7, when examined with special care, it is seen that it considers extraordinary details and technical delicacies. This makes it the one and rare - master's product / piece / work - .
Adnan Serbest will start to cooperate with the design companies which proved themselves abroad such as MDF, E15 and successful Turkish designers. In 2006, Adnan Serbest targets American, European and Japanese market and in 2007 he will keep on attending world's famous exhibitions.
