Jakob Trollbäck Appointed to Bam Board of Trustees

Emmy-winning creative studio Trollbäck + Company announced today that founder and creative director Jakob Trollbäck has been elected to the Brooklyn Academy of Music's (BAM) Board of Trustees. The only new trustee this year, Trollbäck joins Danny Simmons, painter/founder of the Def Jam Poetry Series, Robert M. Greenberg, chairman/CEO of RGA and Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz among others on the Board.
Trollbäck's involvement with BAM began over ten years ago, when he and his wife, and company co-founder, Lisa, together with family and friends, established an endowment at BAM, the Marion Petschek Smith Fund for Choreographers. Since then, Trollbäck + Company has maintained active patronage and support of BAM. Last year, the company designed and produced the BAM Rose Cinemas trailer that opens every film at the four Rose theaters. Trollbäck + Company also sponsored BAM's post-performance opening reception for Ingmar Bergman's brilliant staging of August Strindberg's Ghost Sonata, a production of the Royal Dramatic Theatre of Sweden.
Most recently, Trollbäck has served on the marketing advisory committee to BAM's Board of Trustees, and will remain actively involved in BAM's strategic branding and marketing efforts. Trollbäck comments, "We can only evolve as human beings if we find time to explore and to be creative. Emotional experiences feed this. This is what BAM so remarkably supplies us with and what makes it such an essential, robust cultural institution."
Trollbäck's involvement with the arts community has included major support for Bang on a Can, Creative Time, Art Start, Architecture for Humanity, and avant-garde violinist/composer Todd Reynolds's Still Life with Mic (at Whitney @Altria), among other arts organizations and creative happenings.
Trollbäck is also a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the Art Directors Club Board of Directors, and the Honorary Board of Directors of Pop!Tech, an annual conference exploring the impact of technology on people. He has lectured and taught extensively both nationally and internationally on motion design and branding. Trollbäck also has served on the Curatorial Committee for the 2005 and 2006 AICP Show, and recently curated a collection of standout commercials for Art Center's 2006 'Radical Craft' conference.
