!mpossible Pictures Designs 2006 BDA Gold Award-winning Network Package for NRB

The mission of the NRB Network is to provide educational programming with a unique focus on the teaching, values, and worldview of the historic Christian faith. Familiar with !mpossible Pictures' work with DISH Network and Ford, NRB Network approached the award-winning studio about creating a high energy, contemporary logo that reflected the mission and the target of the network.
"We were looking for a fresh, contemporary, welcoming logo that expressed our desire to provide programming that is both relevant and biblically faithful," explains Sonya Hairston, Director of Marketing at NRB Network.
"We believed !mpossible could communicate our story best. After telling them our vision for the network, we collaborated on the final design."
For !mpossible VP/Director Steve Urbano, the sky was the limit in terms of creating a unique design aesthetic and color palette. "We wanted to give meaning to the name of the channel and to make it relevant to people in the real world," adds Urbano. "The greatest part of this project is that the client gave us complete latitude. They trusted us as creative directors, designers and artists without reservation to create and launch their on-air brand."
Urbano, who started his career as a graphic designer, worked closely with !mpossible Designer Heather Arment to determine a logo design for NRB. This involved exploring how to connect the name's letters, playing with negative and positive spaces - especially how to separate the letter "R" from "NRB," and all while working in both 3D and 2D spaces. Focusing on the overall idea of "be home," Urbano and his team ultimately presented a logo design in which the arch of the letter "N" is an open door. Arment also created the various taglines such as "NRB...be fun," "NRB...be awakened," and "NRB...be home."
The idea resonated with the network. Once the design was locked down, !mpossible developed the entire package and broadcast standards style guide.
This included ID designs and color palettes for morning, afternoon and evening programming, as well as all menus, bumpers and animated graphic elements.
"Our on-air identity is everything we hoped for and more," says Hairston.
"!mpossible is very easy to work with. Our relationship is very much a partnership."
"This was a fun, collaborative process," concludes Urbano. "Our client respected our capabilities and trusted us to solve their unique challenges.
It shows that if you set the standard high, call on your talented team of creatives, and trust them to do what they're best at, then you'll get excellent results."
!mpossible is currently in development of the next phase for the NRB Network on-air identity.
