A Treat on the Fashion Stage
World Boutique, Hong Kong makes the hippest and hottest fashion statement for the new year by staging its grand 3rd edition from January 18 - 21, 2005.

This fashion extravaganza features inspired collections of designers from around the world, and launches up-and-coming brand names in fashion and lifestyle items.
A taste of what's in store was revealed today at a preview party organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (TDC) at China Tee Club in Central. The preview showed innovative apparel and fashion accessories from 26 designer labels and brand names.
Benjamin Chau, TDC's Assistant Executive Director, said that World Boutique, Hong Kong has a earned a worthy reputation as Asia's best sourcing hub for fashion products. "With such a strong track record from the past few years, we are happy to know that international fashion buyers recognise World Boutique, Hong Kong as a perfect platform to source branded items. In particular, this exposition offers great exposure of brands on the rise in all arenas of fashion."
World Boutique, Hong Kong is an event dedicated to showcasing collections from established as well as up-and-coming fashion designers, coupled with a dazzling display of accessories including jewellery, bags, shoes, watches and lifestyle products. With a wide spectrum of items on display, buyers should find this exhibition a comprehensive boutique for sourcing and viewing. The fair features over 200 brand names and designers' collections from Hong Kong, Australia, Canada, the Chinese mainland, Finland, France, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, the US and Vietnam.
Catwalk shows are highlight events not to be missed at any major fashion event. During the fair period, there will be 16 parades and a number of trend seminars, packing buyers' schedule in a productive yet entertaining way. Hong Kong will once again demonstrate to the world the innovations of indigenous designers and Hong Kong's status as a prominent sourcing centre, as well as a great source of market information for traders worldwide.
Major highlights of the fair include:
-A line-up of 16 fashion shows to give a high-impact experience to fashionistas in town.
-Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers' Contest 2005 + Award Presentation. A perfect chance for new fashion talents to show off their creativity, this will kick off the fair on the first day. 16 budding designers will compete for 9 awards under 3 different groups, namely, Casual Street Wear, Contemporary Daywear and Partywear. At the Award Presentation, 10 celebrities will be invited to receive souvenirs from the TDC for their previous support and contribution to promote Hong Kong fashion. They include Cecilia Cheung, Karen Mok, GiGi Leung, Daniel Wu, Michele Reis, Izumi Ogino, Flora Cheong-Leen, Vivienne Tam, Vanessa Kung, and Wing Shya.
-Hong Kong New Design Force Fashion Parade - "Nouvelle Vague" will be staged in Le Plateau, Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. Paying tribute to the "Nouvelle Vague" movies of the roaring 60s that helped mark a milestone for youth culture, the TDC has commissioned a group of 8 young design talents -- all finalists of last year's HK Young Fashion Designers' Contest, to come up with their own interpretations of what best reflect the spirit of this movement.
-Style Hong Kong Magazine presents "Shooting Stars", by Veggie Legend, featuring YD Alumni and O4 Hair Styling: The finale show of World Boutique, Hong Kong which aims to recapture the role of the well-received TDC publication - "Style Hong Kong" Magazine. It showcases Hong Kong's creative force from multiple disciplines. The spectacular show will be a crossover of fashion, visual arts, as well as hair and makeup styling - with cutting-edge presentation, just like the magazine itself.
"Shooting Stars", with overall concept by Veggie Legend, will feature forward-looking YD Alumni and a special performance by O4 Hair Styling Group.
-Equally attractive to fashion traders will be the various seminars on trends and related issues. In the pipeline are experts in the fashion industry from Peclers Paris (France), Worth Global Style Network (UK), Carlin Interantional (France) and Hong Kong Fashion Designers' Association. Hong Kong's Trade and Industry Department will come to speak on the issue of textile quota elimination in 2005.
