Concrete Pictures and PAA Celebrate Digital Creativity with Video-Art Show
All-Digital Art Exhibition will Premiere on September 21st

Concrete Pictures - a Philadelphia creative agency and multi-platform production company - has teamed up with the Philadelphia Art Alliance (PAA) to create an all-digital motion art exhibition. Entitled "Out of Frame: Motion Art from Mobius," the groundbreaking show will feature work from an array of emerging artists, both local and nationwide from September 21 through December 31. MOBIUS is an independent production facility developed and housed by Concrete Pictures to inspire and promote today's top digital artists working in high-definition television.
"The Mobius project was an amazing instance where art-for-the-sake-of-art broke through the television industry's naysaying and was able to offer itself up as a place and means of expression for artists working in the video medium," said Wade Echer, Mobius' Supervising Producer for Concrete Pictures. "I call it the 'venue for the venueless.' Now I'm thrilled to see these artists embraced and appearing in such a prestigious gallery."
All of the featured work is created for and will be presented on state-of-the-art high-definition (HD) equipment. HD video has not only made existing genres of programming, like sports and movies, more compelling, but it has also enabled the introduction of a totally new genre: non-narrative motion art. Visitors will journey through a series of viewing stations specially created in the Art Alliance's four interconnected second-floor galleries. Each viewing station will feature thematically-related works. Additionally, works best suited to large-scale projection will be screened directly onto a wall in each of the three galleries.
"PAA is delighted to be working with Concrete Pictures, and watching this event manifest into such a ground-breaking exhibition," said Melissa M. Caldwell, Director of Exhibitions, for the Philadelphia Art Alliance. "This is sure to be a unique, fresh and exciting show."
The Philadelphia Art Alliance-a non-profit gallery-is the oldest multidisciplinary arts center in the United States, presenting the work of a full spectrum of emerging and established contemporary artists in the visual, literary and performing arts.
