2006 Fashion District Arts Festival
Members of The New Dance Group Company will present original performances of acting, dance and music at the Fashion District Arts Festival
In an effort to showcase the vibrant artistic life emerging in New York's historic Fashion District, more than 110 art galleries, studios, and off-Broadway theaters will be participating in the second annual Fashion District Arts Festival running from October 16 - 22. The festival, hosted by the Fashion Center BID, will showcase the artistic talent now working alongside celebrated designers in the heart of America's fashion capital.
The Fashion District (the area from 35th to 41st Street between Fifth and Ninth Avenues) will be buzzing with off-Broadway shows, gallery exhibits, presentations of avant-garde performance art, and behind-the-scenes visits to artists' studios.
"The Fashion District has become a center of the city's cultural and arts environment, and is a major and vibrant Off-Broadway venue," said Barbara Blair Randall, executive director of the Fashion Center BID. "The week-long festival, which attracted thousands of visitors to the area last year, cultivates a new image of the neighborhood, showcasing the district as a cornerstone of artistic and intellectual life."
In total, the festival will be producing more than 120 artistic events in a seven day period. Events are free, unless otherwise noted.
