Travel + Leisure Design Awards Winners
Nancy Novogrod, Editor in Chief of Travel + Leisure magazine, announces the winners of the first annual Travel + Leisure Design Awards, recognizing outstanding work in design and architecture during the past year.
Highlighting the significance of design to the travel experience, the awards cover eleven categories, including: Best Museum, Best Restaurant, Best Travel Gadget, Best Retail Space, Best Cultural Space, Best Transportation, Best Luggage, Best Hotel (Fewer than 75 Rooms), Best Hotel (75 Rooms or More), Best Infrastructure, and Best Public Space. There is one winner per category, and honorable mentions in several categories.
Moderated by T+L Consulting Design Editor Chee Pearlman (former editor in chief of award-winning I.D. magazine), the Travel + Leisure Design Awards were selected by an illustrious jury of experts: Tyler Brule, Adele Chatfield-Taylor, Charles Gwathmey, Brooke Hodge, Murray Moss, and Terron Schaefer.
The Awards are featured in the March 2005 issue on page 174, and online at http://www.travelandleisure.com.
Nancy Novogrod says, "The magazine regularly highlights architecture and design in its pages, but we were delighted to finally have the opportunity to officially recognize the architects and designers who have such a positive impact on travel. It was also a great pleasure to work with Chee and our distinguished panel of judges."
The winners of the Travel + Leisure Design Awards 2005 will be celebrated at an event in Chelsea, NYC, on February 17th.
