&made Taxi Service
In 2006, &made was launched at the Salone Internazionale Del Mobile 2006. To promote this young Design Company, the two designers rented a car in Milan as transport, cheap accomodation and to give complimentary rides to 'VIP and Press'. Two hundred invites were sent out before the event to retailiers, editors, writers, manufacturers, event organisers, directors and other design companies offerering a taxi service 'with free rides to private views and parties'. The &made Taxi Service was a huge success. It provided an opportunity to meet and greet, to gain invaluable contacts, and with a portfolio at hand in the taxi it was an opportunity to exhibit exclusively to the those in the industry. It offered an insight into the design world and a taste of one of the busiest design events at the cheapest cost.
&made will be returning to the Salone Internazionale Del Mobile in 2007 with the &made Taxi Service. This coming years event aims to open opportunities to young designers in Britain who are near to graduation and seeking employment. It aims to promote both students and Universities, with twenty students from five different Universities, the fleet will include ten taxis. The service will again focus on creating opportunities, with a considerable amount of invites sent to those in the design industry, including manufacturers, retailers, press and event oranisers. Each student will have a portfolio of work in the taxi in order to capitalise on such a unique networking event, where they will have the opportunity to create contacts, exhibit work and experience the design fair.
&made are currently looking for support and sponsorship for the event. With considerable press and marketing, the &made taxi service is a unique and creative opportunity to be part of, one that thrives to promote young British Design and Education.
