A Really Good Read

Zero Design have recently completed the redesign of the first in a series of books featuring Michelle, a shell with attitude. The books are written by the children's author, Julie Hegarty and tells the story of Michelle, a scallop who lives in the sea and has lots of friends with different problems. It is aimed at children aged from 3 to 7.
The team at Zero have taken the existing Michelle book and re-designed the layout giving the new book a much more visually creative feel, something to be developed across the series. By taking the target audience into consideration, Zero have come up with a new look which is much more appealing to its readers and has vastly improved the visual effectiveness of the book. The enchanting illustrations by Ritchie Collins are now supported by a creative typestyle and 'designed' emphasis, which brings the story to life and integrates the text with the pictures to make for a book with considerably more impact than when first published.
Through the Scottish Literary Agency, Zero have been working on a number of new books for a variety of authors writing for all age groups. The second book in the Michelle series is already underway, as is a children's book called "The Feather Hunt".
"Michelle in Crabbit Comes to Stay", the first of the Michelle series, helps young children to recognise the issues of bullying with £1 from the sale of each book going to the anti-bullying charity 'Beatbullying', which the author is a patron of.
Zero Design Zero was started in 1998 as a small multi-disciplinary design company. It has since developed into an award winning Scottish communications agency specialising in Branding, Graphic Design and Advertising for both print and screen.
