Art Directors Club Introduces Inaugural Design Sphere Jury
The Art Directors Club presents its inaugural Design Sphere jury to be chaired by Marc Gobe, President & Editor of Emotional Branding LLC, and founder of the international design and branding consultancy Desgrippes Gobé. Sphere's prestigious and eminently qualified jury will be comprised of the following members, with one more to be added:
Steff Geissbuhler, Partner, C & G Partners, USA Paula Scher, Partner, Pentagram, USA Rodo Tisnado, Architect, Architecture-Studio, France
"The jury of the Sphere Awards will be the first of its kind to reward designers and brands that have consistently expressed their identity in an energizing and focused way, remaining true to their values and exciting the public's imagination along the way," said Gobé.
The new ADC Design Sphere Award will honor the most outstanding body of work featuring design innovation in a sustained program of design for a single client by a single design firm.
The winner of the ADC Design Sphere Award will set the standard for excellence in design communications. This award will be given to design solutions that combine and convey brand relevance with consistent, impactful and emotional connections across a variety of touch points and will also inspire the next generation of designers. Entries may have been produced over a period of years.
ADC Sphere entries will be separated into two categories - General and Non-Profit. The jury will evaluate work submitted by design firms from around the world. Last year, the ADC Annual Awards drew entries from 50 countries, 27 of which were represented as winners in the 86th Art Directors Annual.
"ADC's relationship with the design community dates back to the origins of the club. ADC Design Sphere is the only award that recognizes design's ability to influence our perceptions of a brand or service over time," said Ami Brophy, Executive Director of ADC.
The 87th Annual Awards Call for Entries officially closes Thursday, January 31, 2008, and was designed by thehappycorp, a New York-based design and branding studio. Results of the competition will be announced at a gala ceremony at the ADC Gallery in New York in the spring of 2008, and will be exhibited around the world and published in the Art Directors Annual 87, the longest-running archive of leading creative work in global advertising and design.
