CSD Article Featured in Summer Edition of Design Management Review
Following the launch of the DA Accreditation Scheme and the DA Diploma in Design Business Management, CSD was asked to contribute to the summer edition of the DMI Review (formerly the Design Management Journal).
The submitted article was written by Christina Onesirosan-Martinez MBA MCIM and was entitled "Managing the Business of Design".
The article by Ms Onesirosan - Martinez highlighted the shift away from implementation design toward strategic design and stressed that those who operate in it will need better business skills and training. The article also demonstrates how in response to this change, CSD launched both The Design Association (DA) and The Diploma in Design Business Management, initiatives aimed at moving design companies toward that goal.
The article is featured in Volume 18 of the DMI Review, which is entitled "The State of Design Management Education"; a summary of which is shown below:
"It is an exciting era for design management education. The field has gone mainstream. Whereas, in the past, we have profiled courses and professional seminars, we now share an overview of innovative graduate degree and dual-degree programs in design and business schools, many complemented with internships and hands-on corporate experience.
Moreover, this is a global reality, with a growing call for design management expertise from companies, as well as from design firms. Within this context, a particular concern is building effective interdisciplinary teams, a challenge addressed academically with special courses and projects."
