LEO A DALY D.C. Welcomes Janis Saltans as Director of Design
International architecture, planning, engineering, interior design and program management firm LEO A DALY is pleased to announce the appointment of Janis J. Saltans, AIA, as vice president and director of design for the firm's Washington, D.C. office.
Mr. Saltans brings nearly 25 years of international architecture and planning design experience to the firm. Over the course of his diversified career, he has designed innovative projects of various scale and complexity in countries including China, Israel, Japan, Latvia, Poland, Russia, Turkey and the United States.
According to Saltans, who recently returned to the U.S. after working in China for more than three years, "This is an exciting time to join LEO A DALY, as the firm's international presence uniquely positions us for architectural opportunities in China and other burgeoning markets. I look forward to imparting a global perspective on the challenges our architectural studio addresses to enhance the built environment, both locally and abroad."
According to the Managing Principal of LEO A DALY's Washington office, Ambassador Richard N. Swett, FAIA, "Janis Saltans is the ideal person to serve as the Director of Design for our Washington office. With our focus on both domestic and international projects, Mr. Saltans' years of stellar work abroad and his exceptional design talent will make him an invaluable asset to the firm. We are excited to have him on the LEO A DALY team."
Saltans received both a bachelor's degree in Architecture and a bachelor's degree in Environmental Design from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind. A member of the American Institute of Architects and the Latvian Architect's Society, his design work has received numerous awards such as a recent Design Excellence Award from the Society of American Registered Architects and two Merit Awards for Architecture from The American Institute of Architects' Hong Kong Chapter, among several others.
Saltans and his projects have been published extensively in magazines and newspapers, including World Architecture Review, Hinge, Architectural Record, Latvijas Architektura and Arhitektura (Poland). His architectural works and paintings have been exhibited in international galleries and museums, including the Bienal de Arquitetura in Sao Paulo, The Chicago Architectural Foundation, the Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design, and the Museum of Foreign Art in Riga.
Saltans joins LEO A DALY from annex|5 and Epstein International Design Consultant Co. in Beijing.
