Omlet Istanbul in Istanbul Design Week
Omlet Istanbul can be defined as a design office with a tendency to produce creative ideas. Omlet Istanbul is founded by industrial designers Aysun Altindag and Meltem Maralcan. Both of them are graduated from Istanbul Technical University in 2002.
Omlet Istanbul provides design service for firms to help them differentiate in the market. Beside working with firms Omlet Istanbul has exhibited its own designs in Istanbul Design Week this year. These products were designed within the concept that Omlet Istanbul has gained for the fair and they were born due to designers' own experiences and needs.
 "The design process of the whole concept was very delighted. Everything began with a story. The story called 'Zeus and Birds' from Ezop Stories."
"Zeus had ordered for all the birds to gather for he was going to choose the most beautiful and make him king. On the way to the contest the wise crow gathered the feathers that all the other pretty birds had dropped and added them to his own plumage. When he arrived he had a striking image. Seeing this, the birds were discontented but Zeus proclaimed: 'This bird has much more sense than you all. He knows how to improve himself. Therefore he shall be your king.'
The designer crow in this story influenced us and so we based our concept in this story. If we look at the stand it gives the impression of pop-up story books. When you enter the stand you feel like entering a fairytale world. Surfaces extracted from each other and placed in cascade, the typography used in the ground, at the background with the feeling of depth visualized by the tonnage of the trees; you walk with the crow to Zeus! At the end of the path you come up against with lighting designs. The designs at the stand were also designed specially for this concept. As an example, in 'Birdy' bookcase, the shelves and bird shaped book holders all come (pop-up) from the same surface. Again in 'key forest' key holder, the branch shaped key holders come up from the same surface, the legs of the 'pop-up' named laptop table are also create one surface when folded."
 To address this concept in an other sense, the music is also composed specially for this concept by Steadyfingers.
