Victorian businesses and groups have been recognised for their work tackling climate change through the Premier's Sustainability Awards.
Premier John Brumby presented the winners with their Sustainability Awards at a ceremony at Crown Palladium in Melbourne.
"The aim of these awards is to recognise Victorian businesses and groups that are reducing their environmental footprint and using resources in innovative ways," Mr Brumby said.
"The five winners are standout examples of sustainability in action and I hope that other organisations will follow their lead as best practice examples in their respective fields."
The winners are: - Community Award - The Great Ocean Road Coast Committee, - Small Business Award - Etiko Fair Trade, - Large Business Award - Davey Water Products, - Public Sector Award- Williamstown High School, Bayview Street Campus and Spowers Architects; and, - Products or Services Award - Dulux Powder Coatings and CSIRO.
Environment and Climate Change Minister Gavin Jennings said the Brumby Government is committed to supporting Victorians who demonstrate innovation in tackling climate change through sustainable projects and these awards recognise their commitment.
"The number and quality of submissions to the Awards was remarkable and demonstrates how much work Victorian organisations are devoting to tackling climate change," Mr Jennings said.
"All the finalists deserve to be congratulated for the excellent work they are doing in promoting sustainability in their industries and sectors. "
