ZONA Design Helps Magnolia Blossom with Trio of Print Ads

Having collaborated on numerous award-winning campaigns, Magnolia Flowers and Events (New York, NY) returned to the branding experts at ZONA Design, Inc., led by Creative Director/Designer Zoa Martinez, to create a three part print campaign that includes ads for the 2007 US Open Magazine and Directory (US Open), and two additional ads to promote the company's newest store in Westport, CT (Westport and Autumn).
ZONA is an innovative design agency best known for its creation of distinctive marks and image making. For this campaign, Zoa Martinez, and her team, integrated color branding, typography and composition and affixed their creative stamp. These print ads are elegant, iconic, and have a great fashion sensibility.
Magnolia is "proud to be the florist of the US Open for the fourth consecutive year." "Color branding was important and we incorporated Magnolia's magenta. We relied on our client's artistry to create a floral arrangement that had the color and texture - something that would say 'tennis.' We created a sophisticated image and had you see the ball coming over the net from the perspective of an opponent who has to return the serve. The ad is minimal, iconic and very effective," explained Zoa Martinez.
Westport and Autumn were created for inclusion in a number of home design publications to promote Magnolia's recently opened third shop in Westport. "Magnolia's work is rich, beautiful and full of color so we worked with their floral designers who created two arrangements that had complimentary palates. I inverted the one arrangement that we left organic with stems and flowers to create a feeling of a chandelier, a reflection over the second arrangement. The two bouquets are separated by simple typography. The effect is very clean, very crisp. For Autumn I created a Bauhaus composition. It is for fall issues and I really wanted a juxtaposition, a balance of organic and natural elements in a bold, graphic environment."
Of her experience working with Zoa Martinez and the ZONA Design team Magnolia's Angelica Gomes said, "I have so much confidence in ZONA's abilities that we go to Zoa for all our design needs. They redesigned our materials a while back - stationary, business cards, postcards, and created a number of print ads - which brought our company to the next level and translated almost immediately into an expansion of our business. Their work is amazing. Give them free rein and they will create something beyond your wildest imagination."
Angelica's partner in Magnolia, Mauro Gomes, added, "We have received numerous compliments on this new work. Zoa and her team really know how to target your market and make an impact. They are very easy to work with, super professional, and extremely detail oriented. Best of all, their work is creative, classy and at the same time hip, young and fresh - New York with an abundance of style."
The ZONA design team was led by Creative Director/Designer Zoa Martinez, and included Executive Producer Dennis Fluet, Designers Zoa Martinez and Mark Lee (Westport); Zoa Martinez and Agnes Nowakowska (Autumn); and Zoa Martinez, Youngha Parks and Mark Lee (US Open). Youngha Parks (US Open and Autumn) and Adriano Fagundes (Westport) were responsible for the digital photography. Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop were used in the completion of this print campaign.
ZONA worked closely with the owners of Magnolia Flowers and Events Angelica Gomes and Mauro Gomes.
