Electronic Arts Canada Launches National Art CompetitionElectronic Arts Canada (EAC), today launched
the country's largest cash prize student art competition. The Electronic Arts
Great Canadian Art Competition is a nation-wide challenge where Canadian
graduating post-secondary students submit a five-minute 3-D digital animated
short that will be judged by EAC staff. The top 25 finalists will be flown to
EAC's studio headquarters in Burnaby, B.C. for a gala presentation where the
grand prize winner will be awarded $20,000 cash. In addition, EAC will give a
grant in the same amount to the winner's school.
"Electronic Arts Canada is very excited about this competition - this is
the first time we have ever done anything like it!" said Nancy Gray-
Starkebaum, senior manager of recruitment at EAC. "This is a great opportunity
for Canadian students to showcase their amazing work. Our Academy Award-
winning graphic artists, many of whom will serve as judges for the
competition, are looking forward to seeing the best work students have to
offer. With the number of students enrolling in computer animation and graphic
design, we are confident we will receive some outstanding entries."
