All eyes are on China with the opening of the Olympics this summer and its emergence as an economic superpower.
Design and production company Imaginary Forces (IF) created the main titles for "People's Republic of Capitalism," a four-part documentary in the Koppel On Discovery series that focuses on China's new role in the world.
The program shatters stereotypes about China, dismissing the old-fashioned idea of a dull drab Communism and showing modern China as the "Wild Wild East" -- an engine of economic growth moving at breakneck speed.
What is happening in China affects us here in the US and globally.
The futures of both countries are undeniably intertwined.
Spearheaded by creative director Karin Fong, "People's Republic of Capitalism" is the 6th show that IF has done for Koppel On Discovery.
The title sequence is an explosion of China chic - lush, intricate and colorful engravings, inspired by Chinese money, tweaked with symbols of present-day industry, fashion, and culture.
In his review of the China series, Tom Shales of The Washington Post writes, "The extremely handsome animated opening credits are worth noting..."
"We brought the results of nearly a year of research, reporting and production on our China project to Karin Fong and the Imaginary Forces team," says Peter Demchuk, a producer for Koppel on Discovery.
"And we offered a title we hoped would capture a sense of the transformation and contradiction we discovered there."

Double Twenty recently wrapped an alternate reality game (ARG) for fans of the upcoming Hellboy II - The Golden Army film directed by Guillermo Del Toro.
The transmedia property submerses players around the globe into a world of conspiracy and mystical adventure, using online interactivity, live action, live events, and print, all fused together in a non-linear mystery story.
Double Twenty's Matt Wolf, a gaming industry veteran, was approached by Universal Pictures to create and produce the entire concept, storyline, game environment, and original content for the property.
The previous ARG created by Wolf won a Primetime Creative Arts Emmy in 2007 for Outstanding Interactive for the property surrounding ABC Family's Fallen mini-series.
The ARG, called The Secret Device, launched in April, serving as a highly-interactive gaming experience and promotional tool to generate additional interest in the Hellboy II film property, which will be released in July.

As part of its on-going commitment to support the practice of sustainable design and green building in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industries, Autodesk, Inc. announced two acquisitions to improve building performance analysis in the building information modeling (BIM) process.
Autodesk announced that it has completed the acquisition of substantially all the assets related to the Ecotect software tools for conceptual building performance analysis from both Square One Research Ltd. and Dr. Andrew Marsh.
Autodesk also announced that it has completed the acquisition of substantially all the assets of Green Building Studio, Inc., a provider of web-based whole building energy, water and carbon-emission analysis software.
"Buildings are a leading contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, so to combat climate change it is critical for the building industry to rapidly adopt sustainable design practices that will lead to buildings which are appreciably more efficient and eventually carbon neutral," said Jay Bhatt, senior vice president, Autodesk AEC solutions.
"The addition of these tools to our technology portfolio will help make it easier for architects, engineers and designers to understand the impact of their design decisions on building performance earlier in the design process so they can optimize for reduced environmental impact."
