Version2 Takes on New Talent

New York-based editorial and VFX/motion design company Version2 announced the addition of Art Director/VFX Designer Niklaus Schlumpf.

Niklaus Schlumpf is a visual artist and designer with many skills and an eclectic background in film production and drawing that has allowed him to produce a vast variety of inspiring and original work.

On one hand he is a savvy Visual FX designer and flame artist and on the other his acute sense of design and animation has benefited countless artistic and experimental endeavors.

He has lent his talents to such projects as HBO's The Sopranos for the episode Resurrection where he had to visually recreate the performance of actress Nancy Marshall after she passed away.

Show titles for Dreams (Y&R and Sony) were displayed respectively at the MoMA and the Ziegfeld Theatre.

In addition to directing many numerous short films, his Art Direction, VFX, and editing can be seen on such notable spots as Cadillac Summer Event, the Garnier campaign with Sarah Jessica Parker, and the Lil. Mama music video Lip Gloss.

Niklaus has worked with top-tiered post production and VFX companies including Spontaneous Combustion, rhinofx, Creative Bubble, PURE, and Brand New School.

He double majored in Film and TV and Cinema Studies at NYU (Tisch School of the Arts).

New York-based design studio, adolescent creates the graphics package for Hollywood's biggest night for kids, Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards 2008 hosted by Jack Black

Kids' Choice Awards 2008 on March 29th, Nickelodeon's huge annual live awards show, this year hosted by Jack Black, is Hollywood's biggest night for kids and Nickelodeon's single biggest event.

adolescent's graphics packaging focuses on the heart and soul of the event: the kids.

Creating the logo in the form of a stencil, a grassroots media tool, puts everything into the kids' hands.

The logo becomes a lens through which kids capture and transform what they see into a popping, crowd-filled world, animated with excitement!

With the DIY, street-art or zine-style promo, the Kids' Choice Awards becomes more than just a moment to value kids' opinions; it gives them opportunity for self-expression, encouraging their point of view.

Uniting the States: HBO's John Adams

Behavior Design, in collaboration with HBO, launched the John Adams website, the online component to HBO's epic 7-part miniseries event.

Based on David McCullough's Pulitzer Prize-winning biography of the same name, John Adams explores American history through one of its greatest founding fathers.

Behavior created an immersive interactive experience layered with rich content, including behind-the-scenes features with the film's creators, exclusive interviews with Paul Giamatti (John Adams), David McCullough (author), and Tom Hooper (the film's director).

The site is organized into seven areas that map to the seven parts of the miniseries.

Visitors can explore related content within each section of the site, including recap videos, special interactive behind-the-scenes features, a timeline of key events related to that period and episode synopsis.

The timeline itself contains a discoverable wealth of content that reflects upon the historical period and its events through slide shows and audio commentary from the film's cast and crew.

"As the 2008 presidential election nears, the timeliness of John Adams presented us with both a challenge and an opportunity within the website, to present the film's historical and contemporary significance in a compelling way," says Jeff Piazza, a Principal at Behavior Design.

"Our goal was to encourage site visitors to delve into a multi-faceted investigation of the roots of the American political system and its founding principles as presented in the film."

Laurent Chanez of Identity directs this inspirational Nike project for TV and web out of Wieden + Kennedy, Tokyo.

Shot in three countries, the premise is simple... everyone is on equal ground no matter the level of expertise.

The days of running in solitude are obsolete with the newest product to hit the market Nike+.

A device that tracks your runs through distance, time and calories burned, Nike+ is made to fit into the sole of Nike shoes and transmit information to an iPod Nano, the runners of the world can unite.

Owner/EP Joe Masi comments on the production, "This was an extremely challenging project in that we had very little time to shoot all the celebrity athletes.

We took a very guerrilla approach, opting to use cars and vans to shuttle the talent to various locations quickly instead of setting up a huge production hub and locking off shots.

It took an adept, spontaneous visual stylist with a keen eye for moments such as Laurent to pull this thing off - and I think the results speak for themselves."
