Planet Propaganda Hires Corinne Schmutz as Interactive Coordinator

Planet Propaganda added Corinne Schmutz as an interactive coordinator responsible for overseeing internal coordination of projects for clients that include the Center for Independent Media, Trek Bicycle Corporation, and Burton snowboards.

Schmutz previously worked in California as an independent Web designer and developer.

As a self-taught professional, she says, "I've always been involved with computers.

My dad brought home an Apple II when I was about four-years-old and I've been on them ever since."

Along with Web applications, she has been involved with podcasting from its inception and also is adept at database design and development.

Schmutz earned a degree in sociology from Illinois' North Central College.

Her prior experience includes working with a Minneapolis non-profit focused on sheltering and assisting homeless youth.

Serving as the organization's administrative services director, she was a Jill-of-all-trades providing direction and support in the areas of human resources, operations and technology.

Like many of the Planet staffers, often bikes or walks to the office.

She also enjoys organic gardening and is passionate about sustainable agriculture in the Midwest and across the globe.

MFA in Interaction Design Offered at SVA in Fall 2009

MFA in Interaction Design Offered at SVA in Fall 2009

A new advanced degree program focused on the design and business of digital media will be offered at the School of Visual Arts (SVA), New York City, beginning in the fall of 2009.

An MFA in Interaction Design will focus on the critical role of the designer in creating useful and usable digital products and services.

The department will be chaired by Liz Danzico, an expert in information architecture and usability, who conceived the program with Steven Heller, a design historian, New York Times columnist, and co-chair of the MFA Design Department at SVA.

"In its most basic form, interaction design involves a conversation between a person and an interface," says Danzico.

"Whether it's a Web site, a mobile phone or a kiosk at the airport, great interaction design starts with an understanding of people."

The MFA program will engage students in concepts central to interaction design, including design research, human-computer interaction, interface design, graphic design, information architecture, and ubiquitous computing.

The two-year, 60-credit program will provide an environment where students can explore designing a range of experiences that cross visual, conceptual, and technical boundaries.

Working in interdisciplinary teams, students will work in the field and in the studio to develop practical design solutions to real-world problems.

50 Golden Brands From the Past Half Century Showcased in Brandwidth Designed Microsite

50 Golden Brands From the Past Half Century Showcased in Brandwidth Designed Microsite

Remember Cadbury's Smash Martians in 1973, Virgin Atlantic's first flight in 1984 and a teenage doll called Barbie born in 1959?

To celebrate The Marketing Society's 50th Anniversary in 2009 Brandwidth have designed a new microsite to showcase the Marketing Society's choice of 50 brands that they think shone most brightly in each of the last 50 years.

As well as the top 50, the site features a "Brand Archive" that will be constantly updated with more contenders in the coming months.

Users will be able to search a rich library of memorable brand campaigns and submit their own opinions if they disagree.

Suggestions from the microsite will be collated as part of the final judging process to determine the final 50 Golden Brands to be announced as part of the Marketing Society's 50th Birthday celebrations in 2009.

As "creative technology" partners of the society, Brandwidth have also developed online banners a DM piece and print ads to augment the campaign, and will continue to work on further phases of the 50th anniversary project that include brand awards and identifying the most inspirational figures who've made the greatest contribution to marketing.

This launch also introduces another Brandwidth design, the new Marketing Society 50th anniversary logo, a derivative of the main brand that will feature on all communication for the next year.
