 DUCK's Jamie Caliri Earns EmmyDUCK Director Jamie Caliri has won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Main Title Design for the title sequence of the Steven Spielberg produced Showtime series United States of Tara handed out last night at the Creative Arts Emmys.The open features a colorful sequence of backgrounds constructed to resemble the paperboard landscape of a pop-up book.  FITC Tokyo 2009: a Flash Design EventFITC Events travels east this November with FITC Tokyo, a one-day design event featuring Flash experts Lee Brimelow, Joshua Hirsch (Big Spaceship), Mario Klingemann, Keith Peters and Grant Skinner.Attendees at FITC Tokyo can expect an overview of all of the latest and greatest developments to the Flash Platform along with in-depth sessions covering optimization theory, animation, Actionscript and much much more. Started in Toronto, Canada, this is the second time FITC has presented in Asia. Last year FITC sold out the COEX Auditorium in Seoul, South Korea with a similar one-day event that attracted over 1,200 attendees.  Guggenheim and Google Invite Public to Vote for Winner of Online Design CompetitionThe Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Google invite the public to vote for its favorite design among the top ten People's Prize finalists for the Design It: Shelter Competition.The competition-an interactive, online challenge-received submissions from 68 countries, for a total of nearly 600 entries that met the competition requirements. Participants used Google SketchUp to create and submit designs for virtual 3-D shelters for a location of their choice anywhere on Earth. Online voters can select a design by one of the top ten finalists for the People's Prize. Finalists were preselected by students from the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture. In addition, a jury of architecture and design experts is reviewing all of the shelter submissions to choose a winner of the Juried Prize. The winners of both the People's Prize and the Juried Prize will be announced on October 21, 2009, the 50th Anniversary of the opening of the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Guggenheim Museum.
