Label th2ng Snaps Up Jake Knowles

th2ng Snaps Up Jake Knowles

th2ng has added award-winning live action director Jake Knowles to its growing roster of emerging and established talent.

Knowles spent four years as senior director for Channel 4's The Big Breakfast before branching out to direct commercials in 2000.

Since then, he has directed more than 50 major campaigns and created virals for brands ranging from fast cars and cereals to haemorrhoids and malt whiskies!

"It's fair to say that Jake's unafraid to tackle any brief, no matter how tricky, complex or potentially awkward the subject matter.

300,000 hits on his viral for DulcoEase is testament to that!

A lot of wit and humour run through Jake's work, which is a real rarity.

Very few people can match that comedic vision or his abilities behind the camera.

It's great to welcome him here to th2ng," said Hannah Cooper, executive producer at th2ng.

Added Jake Knowles: "I love the energy and imagination of th2ng and their work, like Simon's recent pan-European TV commercial for Cadbury's Trident.

Hannah's building a really interesting line-up of creative talent at th2ng and I'm delighted to be invited on board".

Jake directed "Dhow," a thirty-minute film for The Maritime Museum (Oman) in 2008 and is currently working on film script.

Bent Signs Stop-Motion Heavy Hitter Ken Lidster

Bent Signs Stop-Motion Heavy Hitter Ken Lidster

The Portland, Oregon-based production company and creative laboratory Bent Image Lab is further expanding its roster with the recent signing of veteran animator and director Ken Lidster.

Known for brilliant, award-winning commercials, such as those for Brisk iced tea that feature the voices and animated likeness of such stars as Bruce Willis and Danny DeVito, Lidster has directed noteworthy spots for Energizer, Chips Ahoy!, Kellogg's, Oscar Mayer, Quaker Oats, and Target.

"Ken has a history of spot-on work, whether he's directing a series of commercials around a common theme or doing a one-time gig," notes BENT Executive Producer Ray Di Carlo.

"He has the exact combination of qualities that we look for in all of our directors - a creative bent, a tireless work ethic, and, maybe most important of all, a great sense of humor."

"BENT has been making a lot of moves lately, and I'm really thrilled for this opportunity to join their crew," stated Lidster.

"Their work is imaginative and brilliant, and never fails to impress with its high quality and entertainment value."

Prior to joining BENT in 2009, the Canadian native spent two decades in London, where in the early 1990's he founded the animation company Loose Moose.

While there, Lidster and his cohorts created more than one hundred international, award-winning commercials.

Before starting Loose Moose, Lidster worked at Aardmann Animation Studio in Bristol.

IIID Traffic Transport 2009

IIID Traffic & Transport 2009

From 10 to 11 September, 23 speakers from nine countries will share their expertise and knowledge with decision makers, transportation providers, interest groups, information managers and information designers.

The Expert Forum sets out to re-define "integrated transport" and to discuss traveller information as prominent key for a new era of mobility.

The addressed re-definition shifts the focus from "transport" to "mobility" which implies an analoguous focus-shift from a provider's to a traveller's point of view.

Whilst statistics rather contribute to polarization by contrasting stagnant or even declining public transport passenger trips to journeys made by private car, why not customize multimodal concepts to meet yet underestimated traveller needs?

The Expert Forum is geared to discuss market potentials, to promote successful initiatives in user-centered mobility schemes and to exemplify the key role of information to make people abandon traditional travelling habits in exchange for sustainable alternatives with a higher degree of freedom at reasonable or even lower costs.

A special session "Innovation and standardization" will go beyond this year's central theme.

Presenters from Finland to Japan and Germany to France will report on projects on the cutting edge of traffic & transport information systems.
