Buck, the bi-coastal design-driven creative company specializing in animation, visual effects and live action, recently completed an ambitious campaign for the fully-loaded latest edition of the world's best-selling car.
Working closely with ad agency Saatchi & Saatchi LA and Toyota, Buck designed and directed a whimsical campaign using a unique combination of a real-life miniature set and CG elements.
Airing in regional markets all over the U.S., the campaign offers multiple customized spots, each highlighting different features of the new car.
"Saatchi had the idea of the car absorbing these features with an irresistible attractive force emanating from its sunroof," said Ryan Honey, Creative Director, Buck/LA.
"It was up to us to figure how that would look.
Our main concern, as always, was telling a good story.
After a great deal of deliberation, we came up with the idea of creating a real-life miniature model of a city, and then tracking CG elements into it.
Everybody involved became positively giddy at the prospect.
There's something inherently charming and fun about working with miniature, and this combination of techniques was perfect for the Corolla brand."
The new Corolla has available features typically found in luxury cars: satellite radio, leather trimmed seats, an MP3 jack, Bluetooth capability, traffic control and navigation, and more.

Small things can make a huge difference.
That's the idea behind Unscrew America - if we all switch out our old light bulbs with energy-efficient CFLs and LEDs, ridiculously good things will happen.
Unscrew America is a highly immersive online experience and integrated campaign.
The brainchild of GSD&M's Idea City and led by seasoned producer Lesley Chilcott, Unscrew America was brought to life by the teams at Fluid and Boom Design Group - two fully-integrated creative shops offering interactive, design, editorial, music and more to forward-thinking brands, agencies and organizations.
While the project presented numerous challenges, the great cause of helping the environment, coupled with creative carte blanche on the agency side, was simply too good to pass up.
Unscrew America allowed Fluid and Boom the opportunity to work together on a project requiring a broad and cohesive vision for all aspects of the website's architecture, design, and development as well as the post-production of the three :30 Unscrew America PSA's.
Playful interaction and laugh-out-loud content are two cornerstones of the site itself.
Boom designed, illustrated and animated an intricate "cartoon" environment, including numerous characters, objects and surprises - two "cloud cities," earth rockets, kangaroos and an eagle with laser eyes, to name a few.
The site provides a refreshing way to explore a serious issue, along with a compelling call to action and real ways to get involved.

New York-based directorial collective HUSH pushes the envelope with their work on Honda's new marketing initiatives for the FCX Clarity, billed as the world's first production hydrogen fuel cell vehicle.
Launched for a series of major auto show appearances, the stunning design elements surround the onlookers through well-executed placards and banners, and moving images.
HUSH chose to stick to a powerful color palette of reds, pinks, and purples; the exhibition space surrounds visitors with media that melds and changes to fit their informational needs.
On our journey, the low-key, casual product specialist highlights the safety features and refueling capabilities from his perch on two tiled HD display screens.
He even engages us in a discussion on futuristic advances in a home hydrogen fueling station able to light and heat our homes, all of which is presented to us through HUSH's superbly executed live-action imagery and design.
The renowned exhibition agency, George P. Johnson, turned to HUSH to help Honda develop the media surrounding its first Hydrogen powered car unveiled at the 2007 LA Auto Show.
It has since been viewed at the Detroit Auto Show with similar success and may potentially make its way to the New York Auto scene.
"We were flattered that George P. Johnson tasked us to do more than execute a few high-end motion pieces," commented HUSH.
