Entertainment and design company Imaginary Forces (IF) recently created a charming main title sequence for the Universal Pictures' romantic comedy "Definitely, Maybe."
IF creative director Karin Fong spearheaded the design effort for the opening sequence.
In the film - written and directed by Adam Brooks and starring Ryan Reynolds, Isla Fisher, Derek Luke, Abigail Breslin and Rachel Weisz, - Reynolds stars as Will Hayes, a 30-something Manhattan dad in the midst of a divorce when his 10-year-old daughter, Maya (Abigail Breslin), starts to question him about his life before marriage.
Maya wants to know absolutely everything about how her parents met and fell in love.
"From the original script, the title sequence of my film, 'Definitely, Maybe' was meant to be a fun, lyrical and original cinematic stroll through Manhattan," explains writer-director Brooks.
"I had no idea what the specifics were to make this fun, lyrical and original, in fact no one did, until Karin Fong and Imaginary Forces began their collaboration with us.
Besides creating a stunning sequence that works beautifully with the themes and look of the film as a whole, and designing the split frame scenes that punctuate the story, IF contributed two great visual jokes that I will forever get to take credit for.
I can't wait for the opportunity to work with Karin and her gang again."

A centerpiece to HBO's on-air branding is their annual year-end spot.
Once again, the network has turned to award-winning creative agency Viewpoint Creative to create and execute this crucial two-minute piece celebrating where the channel has been and where it is going.
"These spots are an exciting challenge for us.
They get a lot of scrutiny and they need to hit just the right tone -- tugging heart strings as we reflect on 2007 and building excitement as we talk about 2008," Michael Middeleer, Viewpoint's Executive Creative Director said.
"It's gratifying to work with the folks at HBO who really appreciate it when you come up with a fun, fresh idea, and then nail the execution."
For this assignment Viewpoint developed an imaginative visual design that highlights characters from HBO shows then transforms them into a magical swirl of random typography that moves gently across the screen.
The type, as if caught by a breeze, falls together to form the on-screen copy.
The spontaneous effect, coupled with the evocative song "Best Year" by singer/songwriter Graham Coulton, perfectly honors the creative achievements of 2007, such as The Sopranos, Rome, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Big Love, and looks to a promising 2008 with new seasons of Entourage, The Wire, Flight of the Conchords and the dramatic new mini-series, John Adams.

This course will provide first-hand knowledge and training in core design research methods.
At its root, design research emphasizes learning about people and using the insights gained to inform and inspire design.
We will focus on exemplary models of what research is, what it looks like, its role in concept generation, and what it produces.
Students will develop their own design research philosophy, learn how to think about people, behavior, and culture, as well as the importance of being open to new perspectives.
They will also learn tactical skills they can immediately put into practice: how to conduct observations and interviews, find research participants, and interpret and synthesize results as fodder for design and storytelling.

Holiday Inn have launched the Holiday Inn "Green Room" microsite to celebrate a new partnership with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) including confirmation that they will build a Show Garden at Hampton Court Palace Flower Show in July.
The show garden will form the centrepiece of activity aimed at encouraging the UK's estimated 26 million gardeners to make the most of their natural surroundings with imaginative use of their living space.
To bring this vision to life, multi award-winning designer Sarah Eberle has been appointed to translate Holiday Inn's philosophy of providing a warm, friendly and inviting environment for their guests - by literally bringing the outdoors inside.
By using the search facility on the microsite, users can quickly discover beautiful RHS recommended gardens and quickly locate the nearest Holiday Inn.
Special room rates will also be made available throughout the hotel network, plus information and tickets to gardening shows nationwide.
The microsite forms an element of an integrated campaign undertaken by Brandwidth that includes a partnership with the RHS, printed media, data capture and a competition to win a £10,000 garden makeover - culminating in the Show Garden at the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show from 8-13 July 2008.
