'Oseam' Wins at Annecy Animation Festival in FranceThe local film "Oseam" was given the top prize in the feature films competition section at the Annecy International Animation Festival in France on Saturday.
The animation, directed by Sung Baek-yeop received the Cristal D'Annecy, the prize for best feature at the festival, which is considered the most important event for animations in the world.
It is the second time for a local film to receive the top prize at Annecy. "Mari Iyagi (My Beautiful Girl, Mari)" also received the best feature prize at the event in 2002.
Other films in the feature competition section of the festival included "Hair High" by Bill Plympton of the United States, "P3K Pinocchio 3000" by Daniel Robichaud of Canada and "El Cid, La Leyenda" by Jose Pozo of Spain.
Made with a budget of 15 billion won, "Oseam" tells the story of a young boy and his blind sister who are searching for their mother and find themselves taken in by a group of kind Buddhist monks in the mountains.
