Perforce version 2004.2 has received Game Developer magazine's seventh annual Front Line Award. The award recognizes Perforce Software, maker of the Perforce Software Configuration Management System, for excellence and innovation in game development programming tools in 2004.
"The Front Line Awards were created to recognize those very deserving software and hardware companies whose tools enable the creation of ever better games," said Simon Carless, editor of Game Developer magazine. "They, along with game developers, are advancing the state of the art."
Perforce SCM tracks and manages the creation of source code and digital assets, providing greater accuracy, control, and productivity to the game design and development process with significantly reduced administrative overhead.
Perforce's key advantage is that developers and artists have access to the latest version of a project's code and digital assets, regardless of the team's size and location. Also, with Perforce, development teams can manage multiple versions of games and meet overlapping schedule and feature requirements.
