Puma makes its most recent footprint in the sneaker marketplace with the release of the limited edition Roma JD.
As one of the brand’s premiere athletes, baseball star Johnny Damon will now have his own lifestyle shoe based on one of Puma’s most well known styles, the Roma.
Made in the center fielder’s team colors, the red, white and blue suede Roma JD feature “Johnny D” and his number “18” on the outside quarter.
Damon’s well-known face and signature will reside on the sock bed lining of the shoe.
The sleek, low profile shoe reflects Johnny’s laid back nature while the personalized details celebrate his individual style.
As part of the release of the Roma JD, Puma North America will make a contribution to UNICEF on behalf of Johnny Damon.
Damon, who is part Thai, chose UNICEF because of their efforts to help those affected by last year’s tsunami.
Produced in a limited quantity of only 200 pairs, the Roma JD is sold at three select retailers for $80 from July 13.
The Puma Concept store in Boston (333 Newbury Street), www.puma.com, and The Tannery (11A Brattle Street, Cambridge), will be the three exclusive retailers selling the limited edition shoes.
At each location, there is a limit of one pair per customer.

Jewelry designers Nak Armstrong and Anthony Camargo are one of ten finalists nominated by the Council of Fashion Designers and Vogue Magazine for the second annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund awards.
Chosen by a committee of industry representatives, Armstrong and Camargo are thrilled to be nominated amongst a group of superb designers.
Their innovative and inimitable collections have continued to revolutionize the jewelry industry; they have blurred the distinction between jewelry and fashion and challenged industry standards by boldly breaking with established tradition.
Every single piece designed by this duo pays respect to their artistic philosophy: the marriage of architecture, sculpture, history, movement and unadulterated luxury.
With that said, it comes as no surprise that Anthony Nak Fine Jewelry is the only accessory line to be nominated for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award.
A testament to their uniqueness and unwavering commitment to excellence, Camargo and Armstrong see this nomination as, "the icing on the cake".
However, it goes duly noted that although 2005 has been a great year for the pair, there is still more work to be done and more boundaries to transcend.
The summer of 2005 has been monumental for Armstrong and Camargo.
In June, the Texas design duo was awarded with the CFDA Swarovski

ZOOZOOM designer profiles introduces Lesley Mobo, the most successful Filipino fashion designer of the moment.
Lesley Mobo won the coveted Diesel Award at ITS3 (International Talent Support) with a collection inspired by the fight for survival in extreme conditions.
Titled 'Obesity in the North Pole' Mobo used different textures and layering together with exaggerated shapes to explore the conventional and unconventional form and figure of the human body.
The end result was a collection that abandoned the concept of clothing that contained the body and considered it's potential for extending it.
Now with his 'own label' collection for Diesel he has reworked these same ideas and delivered a wearable collection as rich in texture as it is in metaphors.

Alliance Française de Manille proudly announces its forthcoming cutting-edge fashion event "Traits très mode - French fashion illustration now" set on August 23, 2005, 8 p.m. at the Rockwell Tent.
"Traits très mode - French fashion illustration now" is a traveling exhibit making its way to Manila via the Association Française d'Action Artistique (AFAA) and showcases a diverse group of works from 15 internationally renowned fashion illustrators, graphic designers, and animators.
There will be a total of 60 illustrations/pane ls mounted in plexiglass for the exhibit.
According to Cédric Morisset and Hélène Convert, the curators of this show, the new style of illustration is no longer a mere visual representation of fashion objects.
Rather, it transforms the mental worlds and fantasies embodied by those objects into images, while in turn, each new image nourishes the next of fashion's ephemeral cycles.
As illustrators have become ever more closely bound up with the dictates of fashion's time cycles, their creativeness and diversity has never been so rich.
This show has already received acclaim in various venues across Europe, proving that art and fashion have successfully converged to develop a high form of image art, and new grounds for modern clothes designers and visual artists.
